SECOND INTERNATIONAL PARAGUAYAN HARP SEMINAR

CUERNAVACA, MORELOS, MEXICO

SUMMER 2008

We cordially invite harp students, professionals and interested people, to participate in the Second International Paraguayan Harp Seminar, to be held from June 29th to August 17th 2008 in Cuernavaca, Morelos, the “everlasting Spring City”.

Maestros Celso Duarte and Celso Duarte Jr., will teach Paraguayan harp techniques and Latin American repertory. You can attend the Seminar for a minimum period of one week (7 days).  However, you will be also able to stay for several consecutive weeks if you wish.

There is no age limit and it is not required to be an advanced student.  There will be lessons for beginners, intermediate, advanced and  professional  harpists.

Applications will be received as soon as possible. 


Seminar includes:

  • Individual lessons.
  • Group lessons.
  • Paraguayan harps will be available to practice and take the lessons.  (In case students will not bring their own harp)
  • Single, double or triple accomodation, in a beautiful house with swimming pool.  Harpists from different countries will be staying in this Mexican style colonial house.
  • Breakfasts, lunch and dinner.  International and Mexican cousine.
  • Transportation Mexico City Airport-Cuernavaca, Morelos-Mexico City Airport.
  • One tour to an interesting cultural place:
    1 Tepoztlán, Morelos; 2 Taxco, Guerrero; 3 Xochicalco archeological site,  4 Grutas de Cacahuamilpa  (Cacahuamilpa Caves)  5 Optional Acapulco , Gro. (Extra cost)
  • Students recitals.
  • Diplomas 

Other activities:

  • Proffesional harpist concerts.
  • Workshops on harp mainteinance, changing of strings, tunning, etc.
  • Recordings and Cds. of Latinamerican, llanero, Veracruz harpists and others.

1st Week:

June 29th to July 5th

Tour : Tepoztlán, Morelos.

2nd Week:

July 6th to July 12th

Tour:  Cacahuamilpa Caves.

3rd Week:

July 13th  to July 19th

Tour : Taxco, Guerrero.

4th  Week:

July 20th to July 26th

Tour: Xochicalco Archeological Site.

5th Week

July 27th  to August 2nd

Tour: Tepoztlán, Morelos. 

6th  Week:

August 3rd to August 9th

Tour:  Xochicalco Archeological Site.

7th Week:

August 10th to August 17th

Tour to Cacahuamilpa Caves

NOTE: At the end of each week, students may chose  Tour to Acapulco, Guerrero, at an extra cost (transportation, hotel, meals). Costs will vary according to period of Tour, chosen hotel, etc.              

Tuition

Per one week  (7 days)

  Single Room:  Dlls. $1,500.00

*Double Room: Dlls. $1,200.00  

*Triple Room:    Dlls. $1,000.00 


*Double and triple room will be shared with students of the same sex and hopefully the same language.

NOTE: If you pay full tuition before June 15th, you will obtain 10% discount.

PAYMENT

Once application form will be received and accepted, students have to send 50% of tuition via bank transference or deposit. In this same way, 50% left, has to be paid one month before student´s lessons begin.

Cancellation: If you cancel one month before your classes begin, you will obtain reimbursement: 50% of your payment (if you paid 50%, you will recover 25%, if you already paid 100% you will obtain 50% reimbursement). After that date, there will be no reimbursement.

Teachers and Organization will study special cases.

RECORDING FACILITIES FOR HARPISTS

Interested harpists will be able to record in México, and can be assisted by professional musicians (folk, classic and jazz) - composers, musical arrangements, engineers, photographers and designers-.  Ask for fares and promotions.
